64 bit Sentemul 2010.exe Added On December 16th, 2010, the 64-bit variant of Sentemul was released into the wild. For those out there that still remember this operating system and its predecessor – 32-bit – it has been a long time coming for an update. However, many developers were hesitant to adopt the new software due to compatibility issues and performance issues. Now, almost six years later, we can finally see an upgrade for this particular operating system as well as 8-bit machines such as the Commodore 64. Sentemul is an operating system that runs on a clean slate. It is a new OS that was designed based on Microsoft Windows 7. This operating system is effective in running an updated version of the C64 operating system – with all the updated features – as well as multiple additional hardware improvements. Sentemul utilizes a newer version of the SIO2PC API and has been updated with features such as USB Mass Storage support, which includes hardware acceleration, USB 3.0 support, and even improved disk access speeds from the NTFS driver. Due to all these updated features, Sentemul can run faster than ever before and will now provide faster disk access with only minor drawbacks such as longer boot times and slower application load speeds. New hardware on top of the C64, such as new CPUs, disk controllers, graphics cards, etc. will all be supported easily upon installation. The new operating system is currently in beta stage of development. It is not available on the internet yet and must be obtained through existing developers or piracy. The following is a list of features that are currently planned for Sentemul 2010: - All listed features are still in development and many may not make it to release. Sentemul 2010 is in beta stage of development so features may be added or removed before it is officially released. Sentemul is a 64-bit operating system that was designed from the ground up to run a newer version of a Commodore 64 OS. Thus, all of the applications and features that were available on the Commodore 64 will be available on this new OS as well. Major features of Sentemul 2010 include:While Sentemul 2010 still has some major issues to address, this operating system is overall stable and runs as expected as an alternative to DOS/Windows. The only major problems that this OS currently has are related to graphics. In general, games run as expected with no issues, even if they have been designed for the C64's graphics capabilities. The only major issues with games are the new enhancements that were made to the graphics engine. The new enhancements include support for new features such as USB Mass Storage, enhanced disk access, and hardware acceleration. While this is an improvement over 32-bit DOS, the games are still rendered very slowly when compared with their C64 counterparts. This is due to the lack of available RAM on hardware that was released more than 20 years ago. As far as stability is concerned, Sentemul 2010 has proved to be stable with minor issues but not entirely stable yet. - Sentemul is currently in beta stage of development so many features may be added or removed before it becomes an official release candidate. cfa1e77820
